fees and costs - how much do we charge ?
wills
Our standard fee for completing a relatively straightforward will is £170. Preparing two similar wills for a husband and wife or partners costs £265.
Our fees include the cost of meetings at your home, preparation and completion of each will and all associated advice. If you are out of our area we can deal with everything by telephone, post and / or email. We also advise upon storage of completed documents.
A few clients affairs are quite complex and require more time consuming work than normal. If that is the case with you we will charge more for the additional work. However, we will always talk to you about this beforehand and agree the charges in advance.
powers of attorney
If we are preparing and registering a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) at the same time as preparing a will or another power of attorney for you our charge will be £160 for each LPA. If we are simply preparing one LPA then our fee will be £240. Our work will include the cost of meetings at your home, obtaining relevant signatures from you and your attorneys and corresponding with them and others concerned. In most cases we will also act as your 'Certificate Provider'. When completed we attend to registration of the documents with The Office of The Public Guardian on your behalf.
If you are out of our area we can deal with everything by telephone, post and / or email.
Please remember that unless you are entitled to a fee exemption or fee remission there will be a fee of £82 payable to the Office of the Public Guardian to register each LPA that you make.
We can also prepare other types of power of attorney. If we are doing this we will tell you about the cost before we proceed.
other services
The other services that we can provide will usually be charged for at an hourly rate which we will agree with you beforehand and confirm in writing.
Where a matter is protracted or a lot of work has been completed with more work to be done we will usually make an interim charge or charges. Again this is something that we will discuss with you at the time.
In the case of local clients we do not make an extra charge for home visits.
Our fixed fees are usually payable at our first meeting.
If we have to travel more than 10 miles to see you we will charge the additional mileage at a maximum of £0.50 per mile.
